3-LENSUS project
3-LENSUS focuses on the key issue of the "knowledge triangle" of education, research and innovation, for regional sustainable development.
The project will
- create a Network for ESD and European Virtual Learning Space to innovative approaches among regional learning networks for sustainable development
- build capacity for furthering these activities
- offer e-learning activities for cross-sector ESD.
3-LENSUS addresses the need for
- crossing borders of academic vs. non academic learning towards contextualised, holistic lifelong learning
- self-directed learning possibilities for competence development
- transdisciplinary settings to make knowledge effective in real-life situations
The project builds on the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development call for engagement between universities and other stakeholders in formal and non-formal education to create learning networks for regional sustainable development.
The 3-LENSUS project will create
- an open access European Virtual Learning Space, which will include enhancement and increased uptake of high-quality learning resources for universities and local actors based on VCSE activities ( see: www.VCSE.eu )
- more RCE-type networks ( like through the RCE Rhein Meuse )
- best practice toolboxes in e-learning for ESD methodology and development of indicators for ESD
- a network for ESD to share best practice in ESD and learning networks for SD via the European Virtual Learning Space (RCEs, Universities and other societal actors in the field of development)
3-Lensus partners are:
- the University of Macedonia (GR) – Project Coordinator;
- the Charles University in Prague, Charles University Environment Center (CZ)
- the Open University of the Netherlands, School of Science (NL) and CELSTEC
- the University of Graz, Institute of Geography and Regional Science (AT);
- the University of Lüneburg, Institute for Environmental and Sustainability Communication (DE)
CELSTEC staff will be manly involved in developing a LENSUS Learning Network for of the LENSUS project (under Workpackage 2, lead by OUNL Schools of Science).
The project is financed under the Life Long Learning Programme of Erasmus (Erasmus action Structural Network).
