Becoming a teacher educator
In 2009 the book ‘Becoming a teacher educator. Theory and practice for teacher educators’ appeared at Springer. Anja Swennen, Onderwijscentrum, Vrije Universiteit, and Marcel van der Klink (CELSTEC) edited the book on professionalisation of teacher educators.
Becoming a Teacher Educator
Although there is a lot of attention for the quality of teacher education and the competencies of (graduated) teachers, there is little attention for those who educate the teachers. This is the first book that addresses a range of important topics related to the work of teacher educators, the induction of teacher educators and their further professional development. Becoming a Teacher Educator has a practical focus and it provides theoretical insights, experiences of experts and practical recommendations.
ATEE
The book is rooted in ATEE, the Association of Teacher Education Europe. The editors Swennen en Van der Klink are both active within ATEE as are many of the other authors that contribute to this book. Professor Marc Vermeulen (former director of the Ruud de Moor Centrum (RdMC) announced in his keynote on the ATEE conference in August 2008 the publication of this book. The joint efforts resulted in a book that is truly international and combines research, practice and reflection.
