Free Technology Academy: new courses and programme
The Free Technology Academy (FTA) offers two new courses: Legal aspects of the Information Society and Network technologies. These courses are given in the fall of 2010 gegeven, together with the course The concepts of Free Software and Open Standards, that has been offered before. In 2011 the number of courses will increase further as the programme for 2011 shows. |
Course materials for free
The course materials of these new FTA courses will soon be published on the web. For five other courses the materials are already available for download. All of them are under a Free Copyleft license. Those who register for a course, take part in (virtual) meetings and discussions, make assignements and receive credits.
Consortium
The Free Technology Academy (FTA) is a joint initiative from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) from Spain, the Open Universiteit of the Netherlands and the University of Agder from Norway, led by the Free Technology Institute. Their aim is to promote and improve education on Open Source and Open Standards using Open Educational Resources.
Master level
TA offers an online master level programme with course modules about Free Technologies. Learners can choose to enrol in an individual course or register for the whole programme. Tuition takes place online in the FTA virtual campus and is performed by teaching staff from the partner universities. Credits obtained in the FTA programme are recognised by these universities. The full master programme can be concluded at one of the universities.
