OU online masterclass on distance teaching
![]() | From 6 until 12 February 2012 the Open Universiteit organizes the online masterclass Long distance teaching. Dr. Kathleen Schlusmans, IPO manager and expert in the field of distance education and prof. dr. Rob Koper, director of CELSTEC will give the masterclass. The language of the masterclass is Dutch. |
ICT in education
For students who wish to combine work and study, distance education is ideal. But distance education can also be very useful in case of functional disabilities or illness, when a student wants to combine a study with a athletic career, in case of a traineeship or a long stay abroad etc.
With the technological developments and possibilities offered by the Internet education at a distance is no longer a problem. The student is no longer dependent on written material only. Through Skype, discussion groups, social media and virtual classroom applications, the student can directly be in contact with the teacher, fellow students and the university. But what are the consequences for the teacher.
Technique of teaching
This masterclass focusses on the technique of teaching at a distance. Wat does ‘teaching at a distance’ exactly mean? What is being expected from the teachers? What are the differences with face-to-face education? What should you do and what should you certainly not do? Using examples from the expertise at the Open Universeit, the masterclass will specifically discuss the technique of distance teaching.
For whom?
The masterclass is organized for teachers, trainers, educationalists, developers, consultants and educational advisors interested in the use of ICT in (parts of) courses in distance education. Specific previous knowledge on the subject is not necessary.
Live session: Friday 10 February
The masterclass is in Dutch. It starts on Monday with a forum where you can discuss with the expert. Friday 10 February from 15.00 till 16.00 hours, there will be a live session.
