Smartphone in education – how
Nowadays everyone uses mobile technology. The first reflex in many educational situations though is to switch mobile phones off instead of using them. As students phoning or internetting interfere in a class situation. Furthermore frequently multitasking diminishes concentration on learning. On the other hand mobile technology is becoming an increasingly important source of information for many people. The question that needs to be answered therefore is how to use mobile technology sensibly in education. Most people consider the Smartphone to be a small computer that enables them to look at web pages or e-mails.
Benefits of using mobile technology
In order to use mobile technology effectively we firstly need to understand its qualities and combine these with the characteristics of learning and instruction. In this masterclass Specht explains that use of mobile technology in education is defined by three components:
Use of mobile technology enables learners to access information and educational support anywhere;
Use of sensors enables mobile technology to define the learning context and thus optimize support of the learner;
Use of mobile technology enables the connection of various learning situations and the coaching of learners in learning activities in those various learning situations.

The masterclass is especially suitable for educationalists, developers and educational advisors and additionally for teachers, trainers and other professionals interested in the use of mobile technology for learning inside and outside of the classroom. Specific foreknowledge on this subject is not necessary. Having used a Smartphone before is an advantage.
Setup
You can follow all activities via your PC and you can participate in some activities at a random point of time, like forum discussions. There is one live session of one hour, during which the expert will give a presentation, and during which it is possible to ask him questions via chat.
