![]() |
The organisation for public libraries (VOB), in collaboration with CELSTEC, is going to found a Library School. Thursday June 18th 2009 one of the initiators Rob Bruijnzeels (VOB) has presented the plans in Utrecht to the members of VOB. The main objective of the Library School is to provide the sector with new-style-librarians on an academic level. |
The Library School is a school for librarians who work in a managerial position in a public library and who want to become an innovator in their profession. During the programme, which takes 1,5 till to 2 years of study, the students work on an innovation project in their own library.
Learning Network
During the meeting of the 18th of June, Marlies Bitter of CELSTEC presented the didactic concept of the Library School. Learning in a ‘Learning Network’ will play an important role. This concept makes it possible to tune the educational and professionalisation activities of the school to the concrete learning needs and professional context of the learning professional and his organisation. Faculties of OUNL, i.e. School of Management and School of Humanities, will play a role in the design of the programme of the school.
Planning
In September 2009 a pilot group of students will start with the programme of the VOB Library School. The official start of the Library School is expected to take place in January 2010.
