Master program Learning Sciences (MSc)
Based on its experience in research and design of learning, CELSTEC has developed a Master programme Learning Sciences (MSc).
Learning Sciences
The Learning Sciences is an interdisciplinary field that works towards the scientific understanding of learning and engages in the design and implementation of learning innovations. The core disciplines that are involved in the Learning Sciences are cognitive science, educational science, psychology, social science, neuro science and computer science. Traditionally, the research and practice in the Learning Sciences are focussed on the utilization of scientific knowledge from the various disciplinary fields to design effective learning innovations. In the past decade the focus is also expanded to the design of curricula, informal learning environments, learning networks, learning design methods and technologies, and organisational innovations. Learning Sciences are a core asset for any improvement of education, training, lifelong learning and professional development.
The programme
In the Master Programme Learning Sciences, students learn to analyze educational and training problems and to develop and implement efficient solutions, taking into account the conditions within the organization and the theoretical insights. Students get acquainted with the most recent developments in the field of Learning Sciences and learn how and when they can be used in their design solutions. During the programme they work on at least two large innovation projects, if possible related to their own working practice. Apart from that they develop competence in the field of counselling and projectmanagement.
The Master’s programme Learning Sciences consists of ten courses of 4.3 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) and a thesis of 17 ECTS making a total of 60.
At this moment the programme is only available in Dutch.
